Options

Super Swivels® are available in numerous configurations, size, seal, and material options including custom design and manufacture. Our catalog illustrates the most common choices, many of which are in stock and ready to ship. Please contact us if you don’t see what you want and we will work with you to fulfill those needs.

Order options include: Inline or 90°, single or dual plane, stem thread type and size, body thread type and size, material and plating, and seal type.

Base Material and Plating

Super Swivels are manufactured from Carbon Steel or 304 and 440C Stainless Steel.

  • Carbon Steel Zinc (Z) Plating is recommended for non-corrosive applications, i.e. hydraulic, pneumatic, etc.
  • Carbon Steel Nickel (NI) Plating is recommended for mildly corrosive environments, i.e. water, mild chemicals, solvents, etc.
  • 304 Stainless Steel (304) is recommended for low pressure corrosive environments.
  • 440C Stainless Steel (440) is a martensitic, high carbon, magnetic stainless steel, heat-treated to maintain a high-pressure rating. Not as corrosion resistant as 300 Series Stainless Steel.

Seal Material

Super Swivels are manufactured from Carbon Steel or 304 and 440C Stainless Steel.

  • (V) Viton® (Fluorocarbon) – For most petroleum based applications. (-15ºF to 250ºF)
  • (AL) Aflas® (Tetrafluoroethylene-propylene copolymer) – Better resistance to many individual chemicals. For service in high temperature environments. (Low temperature limitations.) (+32ºF to 400ºF)
  • (ETP) Viton Extreme® – High resistance to many individual chemicals. (-15ºF to 400ºF)
  • Other seals available upon request include: Buna, EPR, Neoprene and Kalrez®

Please specify oxygen use when ordering. Super Swivels are not recommended for breathing air or steam.

Inline Swivels

Rotating joints provide minimal friction allowing free movement of hoses and piping in fluid conducting power systems. The compact design fits in tight areas. Super Swivels one piece barrel and stem with integrated ball bearing race design withstands heavy side loads preventing premature seal wear and leaks. This pass-through inline design is the most standard configuration in live swivels. Super Swivels connect directly to hose lines without adapters reducing overall costs of hydraulics. Inline sizes range from ⅛” through 2½” body thread with numerous fittings, finishes and seal configurations.

90° Swivels

Rotating joints provide free rotation on one axis with a right-angle change of path. They reduce the complexity of hose lines providing for minimal friction and allowing free movement of hoses and piping. 90º Super Swivels allow for sharp corners with reduced risk of kinks and flow restriction and free rotation. Super Swivels ball bearing race design withstands heavy side loads preventing premature seal wear and leaks. Super Swivels connect directly to hose lines without adapters reducing overall costs of hydraulics. 90º Swivels sizes range from ⅛” through 2″ body thread with numerous fittings and seal configurations.

Super Swivels’ Advantages

Simplified Connections:

  • Super Swivels can connect directly to hose lines which would do away with adapters.
  • Super Swivels reduce the complexity of hose lines for 90° connections.
  • Less hose is required with Super Swivels live swivels reducing space needs.

Reduce Maintenance and Downtime:

  • Less hydraulic line congestion, hose kinking, shock damage and twisting means lower maintenance costs and less downtime.

Reduce Maintenance and Downtime:

  • Simplified hose configuration, less hose and adapters when combined with reduced repairs and downtime reduce the overall cost of hydraulics.

Reduced Hose Twisting:

  • Super Swivels live swivel action reduces risk of hose twisting and kinking even in 90° angel connections.

Less System Shock:

  • The increased hose movement allowed by Super Swivels superior design reduces system rigidity and helps absorb some system impulses.
